Rainbow Sorbet

My sister and niece came to visit today. I gave my niece a bowl of rainbow sorbet and took some pictures of her eating it. They were so adorable I thought I would post a few.

She loves it!

Sherbrooke Village

On the drive home Monday we decided to stop at a place called Sherbrooke Village. There's an actual town of Sherbrooke that has this village within it where they turned most of the houses and buildings into a museum. You get a little map that shows numbered buildings you get to go into. The best part was there are people working within the buildings dressed in old clothing and actually using the equipment they used long ago. The first place we went was the old blacksmith shop.

One of our last stops in the village was the stable where Craig was able to get me a horseshoe that had just come off the horse. There was a nail sticking out of it so we headed back over to the blacksmith where this man was nice enough to take the nail out for us!

                                                            In the old post office

One of the buildings was an old jail house. There was four jail cells in someones actual home. The picture above is an original carving in one of the cells.

This was taken in the tailors that was strictly for mens clothing.

Top and bottom pictures are inside the general store.

                                                                    The courthouse

We have tons of pictures from that day but I wont upload all of them. It took us close to 4 hours to walk around the whole village but it was worth it!

On the drive home we came across this half sunken boat so Craig got out and took a few pictures of it.

This past weekend we took a trip down to Cape Breton.
Cape Breton is an island attached to Nova Scotia by a bridge called the causeway. This is where we come from. We both grew up in the same area down there but didn't meet until we were in high school.
We moved away after high school because there isn't much work available there. We still live in Nova Scotia but its about a four hour drive back to Cape Breton from where we are now. We try to get down as often as we can since we still have our families there.

I didn't take many pictures this trip but the next time we go im pretty sure we'll be driving around the Cabot Trail which is beautiful in the fall. So we'll have lots of pictures then.

One of the only pictures taken was of us on the drive there. On the way back we stopped at this Christmas Shoppe called Glad Tidings. They sell all kinds of christmas decorations year round. We ended up getting two new tree ornaments both representing Cape Breton.

The wings of this angel are made of Cape Breton tartan.

On Sunday we went to this place called Burncoat Head Park. You have to wait for low tide before you can really enjoy it.

During low tide you get to walk around on the shore where there is normally water.

There is soft mossy seaweed everywhere

Another path takes you to a lighthouse. It was closed by the time we got there though.

This was definitely one of the coolest places we've  ever been!

Cheesy photo of the day

Memory Lane

This past Saturday we took a little day trip to Lake Charlotte. We went to a place called Memory Lane Heritage Village. It was this little man-made village based in the 1940s-1950s. You could walk around and go inside all of the old buildings.

The old Schoolhouse

I became a teacher that day

After that we went to a beach called Clam Harbour Beach. It was amazing! I didn't take any pictures though. Next time.
