My Weekend!

Hey guys! I mentioned on Friday that I was heading back home to Cape Breton for the weekend. My weekend was filled with ups and downs so I thought i'd recap for you!

- First of all, I wasn't feeling right for the past week or so. The odd pain in my stomach, getting chills and then the sweats but most of all just exhausted. Well to say the 4.5 hour drive down on Friday was pretty crappy is an understatement! I was super sick the entire ride. Mix that with me usually getting car sick on long drives anyway and it wasn't a pretty picture!

- After arriving it was soon time to go to my great aunts wedding! She's 71 years old and her husband is 82! (about time they got married!) They were married by the justice of peace in their living room. My grandparents stood as their witnesses. It was actually adorable.

- Soon after the wedding I discovered I lost my debit card! I was pretty upset about this because I had just gotten paid and that was the money we were supposed to use for our weekend. Craig had a bit of money on his card and lucky for me, my grandparents rock and gave me some money as an early birthday present :)

- Saturday was the best day. I woke early and got ready to meet my old friends for lunch. I hadn't seen them in almost 7 years! I was so nervous. By the time everyone showed up though and we got through the first bit of awkwardness everything was as if nothing had changed! We ate our lunch, talked for a good 2 hours and agreed to meet later that night to catch a movie!

- After that we did a little more visiting (two of Craig's best friends) which was very nice as well because I hadn't really talked to one of them since high school either! It was a great day for catching up with people!

- That evening around 7 o'clock we headed to the hall for Craig's aunts surprise birthday party. She thought she was going to her niece's graduation party so she was SO shocked when she walked in to everyone singing Happy Birthday to her! :)

- Then we were off to the movies! We ended up seeing Hot Pursuit. It had some funny moments but its not something I would recommend going to the movies to see. Going to see a movie is SO expensive these days!

- I went back to my grandparents that night, had a slice of pizza ( you will never have pizza taste quite as good as a Cape Breton pizza!), and went to sleep.

- The drive back was good (I slept most of the way) and only had a stomach ache for a small portion of the drive. I'd say this was definitely one of the best visits I've had in a while and I really can't wait to get back down there!

I may be a little biased but I think my home is the most beautiful place on Earth! :)

My "Firsts" Tag

1. Who was your FIRST prom date?
Well I only had one prom. I don't count the dance at the end of Junior High as a "prom". Craig was my one and only prom date. That'd be weird if I had more than one...

2. Do you still talk to your FIRST love?
Craig is my first real love.

3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink?
Red Revs /puke

4. What was your FIRST job?
I was a cashier at a gas station! I actually quite liked it at first!

5. What was your FIRST car?
well...I still don't drive. I did buy a car once though. It was a Ford Focus wagon.

6. Who was the FIRST person to text you today?
I don't own a cellphone *GASP*

7. Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning?
I'm not sure. I'm guessing it would have been Craig since he was the first person I saw.

8. Who was your FIRST grade teacher?
Mrs Rielly. One of my favorites :)

9. Where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?
I've never been on like a real airplane before! I've been in a small airplane that just went UP so we could jump out of it

10. Who was your FIRST best friend and are you still friends with them?
Her name was Jenna. We haven't been friends for a very long time!

11. What was your FIRST sport played?
I joined soccer when I was probably 9?

12. Where was your FIRST sleep over?
My aunt's house. I used to sleep over there all the time!

14. Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?
You know, I've never been in a wedding before.

15. What was the FIRST thing you did this morning?
After saying goodbye to Craig I went back to sleep!

19. What was your FIRST run in with the law?

21. What was the FIRST state you lived in?
I've never lived in the states.

22. Who was the FIRST person to break your heart?
Oh, that doesn't matter :)

23. Who was your FIRST roommate?

Heading Home!

Huy Guys! Just wanted to write to let you know i'm heading home to Cape Breton today! We're going to be down there until Sunday. I'll probably schedule a post to automatically publish on Saturday.

I'm quite excited to be going down for a visit. So many fun things are going to happen!

  • I get to see my grandparents who I haven't seen since Christmas!
  • My great aunt who is in her 60s is finally getting married!
  • I've recently rekindled 3 of my best friendships from High School and we're going to catch up and have lunch and then go see a movie together!
  • Craig's family is throwing a surprise party for his aunt!
  • We get to spend time with Bella and all the rest of our family!

The only thing i'm not looking forward to is the long drive down. It takes about 4.5 hours from here.
Add that to the fact that I haven't been feeling the best these past few days. Should be a fun ride.

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!!

A Must Watch Video

This video came out last month but I haven't seen it until now. It really makes you think. The saddest part is, there are people out there who actually treat their animals this way. I've seen it all before.

They're all excited for the first little while after bringing their pet home but soon...they don't seem as interested. They yell at them, they don't play with them and sometimes they are abandoned. Hopefully this video makes a difference for even one animal.

Oh Happy Days #2

1. Our dvd shelf finally being built!- Craig's been working on building our dvd shelf for a little while now. He had to go all the way out his dads house to work on it which is about 45 minutes away so that's one of the reasons it took so long. But! Its here. Its finished. And it looks great!

2. Ordering my first beauty box subscription- I've been wanting a beauty box subscription for months now and I finally got to order one this week!! I ended up choosing the Beauty Box 5. What kind of beauty boxes do you prefer?

3. First night by the fire- It was a little chilly but it won't be for long! Can't wait for warm summer nights.

4. Early days at work- We were allowed to leave early just about every day this week. It might suck on the pay check but every once in a while it feels really good finishing early.

5. Going to a roller derby- We went to an actual roller derby yesterday. It was pretty cool but I think watching Whip It so many times made me have very high expectations. (It was nothing like Whip It).

This girl writes the best posts! Every post i've ever read has been so informative and easy to read! She covers a wide range of topics from Starting a Skincare Routine to How to Write The Perfect Blog Post  and even How to Style Boyfriend Jeans  (something I wish I could pull off!). Things I'd Like To Work On

1. Getting Fit: I feel like a broken record talking about getting fit and losing weight all the time but its something I think about constantly. I've been really trying these past 3 weeks but man is it hard.
You ever feel like you're working super hard and feeling really great but then you hop on the scale and nothing has changed? You may have even gone up a pound! That's me right now. Its easy to think about giving up. But I won't.

2. Taking Better Care of My Skin: Mainly my face. I don't have any sort of skincare routine in place at the moment and i'd like to change that. My skin isn't bad. My face is quite clear just gets really dry in certain areas. Like around my nose and on my cheeks. I heard drinking lots of water can solve that but i've been drinking tons of water lately and I still see dry patches. Maybe I need to drink more...
I'd like to find a really good daily moisturizer but i'm a little wary trying new products because my skin is very sensitive. Any suggestions would be great!

3. Being Happy: Its not that i'm unhappy. I have lots to be happy about...
Recently I just find i've been getting into these slumps and I just feel really sad for no apparent reason. Even when something great happens and I should be ecstatic...I feel like I can't be.
The worst part is I keep taking it out on people around me. I'll be short or cranky with them and that's not fair.
I think thats why i'm so obsessed with losing weight at the moment. I keep thinking once I feel better about myself, i'll be happy!
Who knows.
I know i'm not the only one who feels like this so its not the end of the world.

Guest Post! - Sitting Is The Smoking Of Our Age by Cristina Nika

Hey guys! I have a different kind of post for you today. Today's post is a guest post by Cristina Nika! She writes amazing guest posts on numerous blogs. Hope you enjoy!

Sitting Is The Smoking Of Our Age

When are we going to realize just how damaging modern lifestyle is, and just how much damage we are actually doing to our bodies? Even though our jobs require us to be sitting on our rear ends in our office for more than eight hours a day, we should be able to find a way to counter that and to start living healthy. However, in most cases, people simply do not have enough time or will to take care of their health and to try balancing out this sedentary lifestyle.

Sitting way too much daily

Sitting for too long might be leaving consequences on your body that you do not even recognize at first. It is helping in developing certain lethal illnesses. Make sure you try to break out of your sitting routine with short exercises so to help your blood flow stay natural.
Moreover, make it a habit of taking short breaks every hour or so. It can help you improve your circulation and decrease the effect of sitting. Ensure that your working environment is such that it promotes creative work rather than looking in your screen the whole day.

What it can do to your muscles

Slowly but surely sitting too much is eating your muscles so that you are becoming more susceptible to developing different kinds of diseases related to cardiovascular issues. Sinking more and more into the sedentary lifestyle will lead to catastrophic consequences; even stretching a little or doing simple exercises can prevent the effects. Better take five minutes out of an hour to look silly and exercise a bit, than to have to visit your physician every month for a checkup, complaining about that back pain.

A healthy diet

In order to tackle your current lifestyle, it is important to eat well and to eat all the right things. Tailoring a diet to best suit your needs and to accommodate to the fact that you are sitting too much, will help in taking down the harmful effects it has on your body. But, if you want help in making a great diet for yourself, it is best to visit a local nutritionist who will give you the exact details on what to consume and what to avoid. It is a very individual matter so the only way to be sure is to talk with a professional.

Be careful what you drink

Pay attention to what you drink while you work, and combined with sitting for too long, well… There are consequences because sugary and fizzy drinks will help develop certain diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Though I am a caffeine addict myself (with lots of sugar in it, of course), I drink detox teas to help clean my body, and to get rid of the toxins in a natural way.

Trust me, you will be doing a great favor in preventing illnesses and diseases which could harm your body in the long run. Water! Drink as much water as possible, because it helps in reducing the toxins in your body and regulates your metabolism. Add some grapefruit juice in it and you will see the wonders!

Get up!

Become more engaged in your own health and do not accept the Dr. Levine’s term “sitting is the new smoking” lightly. It’s the same drill – on average, every cigarette shortens seven to eleven minutes of your life. We actually lose two hours for every hour we sit! Sitting might actually be more deadly than smoking!

Light exercises after every meal is incredibly easy, but the bad news is that is also incredibly difficult in a computer-centric work environment. The human body was designed to stand up and be active, and we should be optimistic that overthrowing sitting is at hand! Walk around your office, go to work on foot or on a bike.  Get up and get moving and you will see the change in the quality of your life!

Thank you very much Cristina for guest posting today!
I really enjoyed reading this post - I hope you all enjoyed it as well! You can find Cristina on..
