October Beauty Box 5

The October BB5 was a little late this month. That is A-Okay though because I happen to think this box was worth the wait! Let's see what we got!

♥= full sized

Happy Hands HappyFace Makeup Cleansing Cloth
This claims to wipe all makeup off with just water.
Its super soft and nice feeling although i'm a little unsure about what it would feel like after you wash it.

Styli- Style Perfect Pout Long Lasting Balm Stick
This is SUCH a pretty shade for autumn and winter!
I haven't tested it out on my lips yet though so i'll share a review once I do.

Ferro Cosmetics Pink Rhinestone Kabuki Brush
My absolute favorite thing in this month's box!! Its so girly and cute and super soft!
It says it retails for $25.00 so this one item already doubled the value for the box.
Its so pretty I don't think i'll even use it haha

Nubar Nail Polish Mini
Very nice shade! Can't wait to test it out.

Knotty Hair Ties
Supposed to prevent snags, breakage and ponytail dent. I'm curious to see how these work as i've tried "dent" free hair ties before but they didn't hold up my heavy hair very well. In any case even if they don't work at least they're cute!

So again, I am totally impressed with this month's box! I feel like I say this every month but I feel like they just get better and better.

What was your favorite item?

Nightmares: Stress Related or Something More?

Keeping in theme with my Halloween related posts I wanted to talk about Nightmares. I don't mean just any nightmares. I mean the sleep paralysis, feels totally real, could this be something paranormal kind of nightmares.

Now I'm not 100% convinced that I even believe in the paranormal. I mean I guess I do on some level but not enough to make me think about it a lot. In this post I want to share with you my own story. My own nightmare that I had to deal with for months....

I can't remember the exact day it started. There very well could have been something going on in my life that was causing stress. Who knows.
I went to sleep that night and "dreamt" that I was awake. Just laying in my bed looking around my room. I could see everything as it was before I fell asleep, I could see Craig sleeping beside me. I looked across my room next to my closet and I saw someone there. It was a woman. She was wearing a dress that looked tattered and her hair was long and she was haggard looking. I remember feeling scared but I couldn't scream or make any noise at all. Eventually I woke myself up.

I had that same dream for days.

Another night came and by this point I've already started to fear falling asleep at night. I had the same dream but this time she wasn't standing beside my closet. She was standing beside my window. Looking at me. Which was only about 2 feet away from me. Again, I eventually woke myself up.
At this point i'm freaking out. I just knew she was getting closer to me in my dreams. I think it was around this point I finally told Craig and my mom about the dreams I was having.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and I find myself having the scariest and worst night of all.

I fell asleep. The dream started. Only this time she wasn't beside the closet or the window. This time she was right on top of me. I remember seeing her floating there above me pushing down on my chest. Her hair hanging down by her face. I couldn't scream, I couldn't move. It was like I was paralyzed. It took longer for me to wake up but thankfully I did.

I felt like I was going crazy at this point. I told my mom about my latest dream and even she began to worry. I remember sleeping on the couch for a few nights because I was too afraid to be in the bedroom. Shortly after that terrifying dream my family and I went for a small visit to Cape Breton. We always pass through the Mi'kmaq Native reserves on our way down. I was driving back with my brother and I asked him to pull over into one of the shops. I needed to do whatever I could to make the dreams stop. I thought why not try hanging a dream catcher in my window? A real one would surely work? So I bought a nice sized dream catcher and hung it in my window as soon as I got home.

Fortunately for me, the dreams stopped. Just like that.

Some might believe the dream catcher actually worked while others may think hanging the dream catcher finally gave me some peace of mind and it created the "illusion" that it was taking the dreams away. Honestly, i'm not sure what to believe. I'm just thankful it worked.

That wasn't quite the end though.

Shortly after my dreams stopped I was on the computer and I happened to come across some paranormal stories. I was just reading through some and my heart nearly stopped when I read one certain story. It was titled The Old Hag.

Apparently this is a worldwide phenomenon. Its actually called Old Hag Syndrome. Here's a bit from a website describing it...

The name of the phenomenon comes from the superstitious belief that a witch - or an old hag - sits or "rides" the chest of the victims, rendering them immobile. Although that explanation isn't taken very seriously nowadays, the perplexing and often very frightening nature of the phenomenon leads many people to believe that there are supernatural forces at work - ghosts or demons.
The experience is so frightening because the victims, although paralyzed, seem to have full use of their senses. In fact, it is often accompanied by strange smells, the sound of approaching footsteps, apparitions of weird shadows or glowing eyes, and the oppressive weight on the chest, making breathing difficult if not impossible.
All of the body's senses are telling the victims that something real and unusual is happening to them. The spell is broken and the victims recover often on the point of losing consciousness. Fully awake and well, they sit up, completely baffled by what just happened to them since now the room is entirely normal.

Reading all of this totally shocked me. I can swear on my life that I had never previously read or even heard about this syndrome before having these dreams.

Doctors like to say its a type of sleep paralysis. That it can be brought on by stress or anxiety. Now I do suffer from anxiety so maybe thats it but I can't help but wonder how all of these people around the world, through centuries, all have the same dream. Usually about the same woman. Kind of freaky. Especially when you've never even heard about it before.

All I know is that i'm so happy to say its been about 2-3 years since i've had these dreams. Since hanging that dream catcher. And just to note- I still suffer from anxiety and no dreams.

Have you ever had dreams like this before? Also, do you believe its all anxiety related or do you believe there could be something more?

That Special Time of Year

My- and everyone else's- favorite time of year.

You may not have noticed but i've been in a bit of a blogging slump lately. Not really posting, not really reading/commenting on other blogs.

I decided I needed to get myself out of this slump and get things rolling again!

What better way to start off then with a whole slew of Halloween related posts!?

So from now until Halloween pretty much all content on here will have something to do with Halloween.

(I've also attempted "decorating" my blog for the occasion-don't worry, its only until Halloween)

Can't wait to share these posts with you all!

Fall Bucket List- Visit A Pumpkin Patch

I was lucky that the farm we visited this past weekend not only had a corn maze but they grow pumpkins there as well! So I was able to knock off two bucket list items in one visit!

We were there with all of our super adorable nieces and nephew! It was such a fun time. Cold, but fun.
They had giant pumpkins for only $10 so of course we needed to get one of those suckers!

Isn't that huge!? We decided this one will be for decoration and we'll grab a couple smaller ones to actually carve.

Do you carve pumpkins for Halloween?

Fall Bucket List- Visit A Corn Maze

First thing checked off of my Fall Bucket List! This weekend we were in Cape Breton for Thanksgiving visiting family and we decided to go to a farm for the day. To my delight they had a corn maze!

They give you a map at the start and there's two questions on the map. You have to find clues throughout the maze to answer the two questions they give. We found quite a few clues but not all of them! Next time.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

It's Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. We're just about to head off to Cape Breton. I just wanted to write a quick little hello! and say Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating this weekend. I'm so excited to see our families! Anyway, there won't be any posts until at least Monday when I get back. So whether you're celebrating Thanksgiving or not- have a fun and safe weekend! :)

Flashback Friday #38

Some photos from November 2012

I love looking through my old albums.
Hard to believe these were almost 3 years ago.
I still remember it like yesterday.

I'm starting to get low on my old pictures so Flashback Friday will be coming to an end soon!

The Fall Spice Tag

Bath and Body Works definitely.
I do like the yankee candles but I just can't justify paying so much for something i'm going to burn.

I like ankle boots.
This year I think I might try out some scarves.

Moccasins all the way!

I'd love to say knee socks just because I like them better BUT....my legs are too thick lol
I can wear them if I don't mind cutting off circulation in my legs.

I like both but again I think North Face is a little too expensive (i'm quite cheap).
I got an amazing Columbia jacket last year for like half the price of a North Face one.

Oh! All the food!
But to be more specific, apple pie and pumpkin pie!
Turkey for Thanksgiving
&&&&& all the Halloween treats.

Can I say neither?
Lipstick and the like just does not look good on me.

I suck at both but if I knew how to do winged eyeliner you better believe i'd be rockin that.

I tend to go for a more natural look throughout the entire year.

At the moment I think i'll choose apple pie just because thats something I rarely get to eat!

Eat it. Definitely.
I usually hate cooking especially if I say i'll cook a meal for a lot of people.
I hate worrying if everything will turn out okay.

Well that was fun!
Its been a few days since i've posted and I thought maybe a fun tag would get me back in the swing of things.

Its October 3rd

How many Mean Girl references do you think we'll see today?

That's okay. Such a great movie!

Just a little chatty/life post today.

I'm still sick. Feeling a lot better today though. Yesterday was rough. It felt like someone hit me in the back of the head with a bat about 20 times.

Last week Craig and I became a very proud aunt and uncle of a new little nephew!!
Although i've only seen him in pictures so far, he's absolutely gorgeous!
We're going to see him next weekend. I'm way too excited!

I've been a little slack in the blogging world lately.
Not really wanting to write posts, not reading other blogs.
I've just been feeling a little off lately.
And then I got super sick on top of feeling stressed out and emotional.
I just don't really feel in the mood to blog at the moment.
But! Soon i'll be better and i'll have all kinds of fun posts planned!

Anyway, I need to get ready for work now (I soo do not want to go).

Let me know what's going on in your life!

How To Deal With a Head Cold

Ugh. The head cold found me. I felt that old familiar pain in my throat two nights ago and yep, I just had to catch this sickness thats been going around for a little bit now. Come visit my sister says, we're not contagious anymore she says. Fibber...

Oh well, it could be worse. My sore throat only lasted a little over a day and its not like I ever really get sick. I just hate the congestion part of it.

Anyway i'm going to share my fabulous tips on how to deal with a head cold...

DRINK ALL THE JUICE- I'm not even joking. This has always been my number one cold killer. Gotta get that vitamin C in ya! I'm 99% sure the 2 bottles of orange juice I downed yesterday is what kicked my sore throat in the butt.

HAVE COLD CLOTHS AT THE READY- Nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night with your clothes sticking to you and feeling like you've been in an oven all night. I love soaking a cloth in really cold water and just laying it over my head/face.

HAVE A BLANKET HANDY- Remember how hot we just were? Well...now its time for the chills. Don't bother layering on the clothes because your cold to the bone. Just get under a blanket because lets face it, after about 20 minutes you're going to be hot again and reaching for that cloth.

SLEEP. FOR DAYS IF YOU MUST- Having a cold is pretty darn exhausting. If you're feeling like you could fall asleep at any moment, DO IT. You're body is telling you it needs rest. If you need to sleep an entire day away, go for it. Trust me, the only thing you'll be missing is a runny nose.

GET SOME FRESH AIR- When you start feeling a little better head outside. I find you don't feel as sick when you're outside for some reason...

That's all i've got. Of course you can take the regular cold meds if you want. At the moment i'm trying to fight this cold off myself with my sleep and juice remedy. Seems to be going okay.

I just hope i'm better by Sunday so I can attend my niece's birthday! Wish me luck! :)
