December 30, 2016

Just a little quickie post today!

Halfway through December I kind of regretted not doing Blogmas. I did it last year and loved it so I have no idea why I didn't do it this year but anyway.

I've decided to do BLOGUARY! Where I'll attempt to post every single day in January. I say attempt because it is really hard trying to write up posts just three times a week when you have a baby to look after. I can only imagine trying to write a post for every day! But I'm determined.

Let me know if you want to join in with Bloguary so I can read along!

BABY OOTD | Cute as a Bunny

bunny onesie from joe fresh  similar
pink jeggings from walmart

I love white and baby pink on a little girl. Craig absolutely hates baby pink coloured anything, and for the most part I agree, except when it comes to cute baby clothes. I've been eyeing this onesie for a while every time I go to the store but I like to wait for the baby clothes to go on sale. I picked this one up for $1.74!! Bargain.

The little jeggings were a Christmas gift to Lux from my cousin. They're super cute :)

Christmas 2016 (Lux's First)

Merry (late) Christmas everyone! I hope it was wonderful. Mine sure was.

Craig had five days off and so far its been lovely to spend some quality time as a family. This year was Lux's first Christmas and even though she had no idea what was going on, it was still the best one I've had in a long time. I just know its only going to get better with each passing year.

Christmas Eve

Since it was Lux's first Christmas we decided not to travel and stayed home instead. Christmas Eve was spent relaxing allll day and it was SO nice. Saturdays are normally quite busy for us so it was awesome to sit home and do nothing.

After a bath, Lux opened her Christmas Eve box. Her new pj's looked so adorable.

We tried to watch The Grinch with intentions of reading her new book before bed but she was not having it. Her gums have really been bothering her lately and nights have been a little stressful. So off she went to bed and Santa went to work..

Christmas Day

When Lux finally woke up (8am) we took her to check out her presents. I know she's still too young to understand what's going on but I swear it seemed like she was excited when we showed her everything!

We finally got to watch the grinch and read her Christmas book. Later on in the evening we got her in a new pretty dress and headed out to visit some family.

Boxing Day

We were invited to Craig's cousins for some chilli and chowder (which was delicious!). We got to see a bunch of family members Lux hadn't met yet and it was wonderful. We had a really nice time!

I hope all of you had a great Christmas! xx

Lux's First Christmas Photos

How adorable are these photos!?! I had so much fun taking Lux's first Christmas pictures. She's such a little character! Christmas is quickly approaching and I couldn't be more excited. She'll have no idea what's going on but I know its her first Christmas so its quite exciting. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed and I wish you all the merriest of Christmases! :)

Those Avril Lavigne Vibes

Me and Avril Lavigne; we go way back.
When I was in Junior High she was my favourite artist. She was also my ultimate style icon. I loved her music and her clothes. But most of all I loved her hair.

I guess you could say I styled it in a way that resembled hers....

And by that I mean pin straight. Every. Single. Day.

(Before you think I'm too crazy, I didn't dye my hair the same colour. That just happens to be my natural colour)

I kept that same style for the rest of Junior High and majority of High School. It wasn't until 12th grade that I started experimenting a teensy bit with the curling iron.

I haven't even thought about Avril Lavigne for the longest time. It wasn't until the other day while I was trying to think of songs to play for me and Lux to dance around and sing to when I remembered how much I used to love Avril's stuff. I put on a playlist and I was instantly reminded why I used to like her so much.

While watching a few music videos I couldn't help but think how amazing her hair looked and I must say, it's got me itching to try something new out with my hair.

Now I have no intentions on going back to the pin straight look anytime soon but I'm totally loving these looks;

That pony tail thoughhhh!

I've never felt so bored with my hair as much as I do right now. I'm in dire need of a new look.

The Sounds Of Winter

snow crunching under boots

the crack of ice

hail beating off of windows

whistling winds

shovels scraping along the ground

the swish of snow pants

the glide of ice skates

the thud of snow falling off of a rooftop

driving over slush

A to Z of Me!

I've seen this tag around. You've seen this tag around. LET'S DO IT!

A-ALLERGIES...I am allergic to SO many things. All animals with anything resembling fur, milk, mascara- you name it, I'm probably allergic to it.

B-BLOGGING...Starting a blog is one of the best things I could have done for myself. I've definitely built up an online confidence that I hope leeks out into my actual day to day life..

♥ C-CRAIG...My love and my best friend.

D-DOGS...Even though I'm allergic I've always had a soft spot for dogs. There's a breed called Native American Indian Dogs and they're supposed to be the most hypo-allergenic dogs ever and I hope to come across one some day so I can see if my allergies are lessened by them.

♥ E-ESSIE...My favourite nail polish.

F-FURNITURE...I absolutely love re-doing old furniture. Getting pieces for free (or super cheap) and giving them new life is so satisfying!

♥ G-GILMORE GIRLS...One of my favourite shows. My goal is to find a cute, small town like Stars Hollow and live there happily ever after.

H-HICCUPS...I hardly ever get hiccups and when I do its usually only one hiccup and I'm done. Lux on the other hand gets hiccups like five times a day.

♥ I-INTUITION...I feel like I have really strong intuition. I always go with my gut feeling and nine times out of ten I'm usually right.

J-JOKES...I tell the cheesiest jokes imaginable but they always make Craig laugh....At least someone thinks I'm funny.

♥ K-KERATOSIS PILARIS...Aka Chicken Skin...yeah...I got that.

L-LUX...My heart, my love, my one and only. The reason I get no sleep xx

♥ M-MONKEYS...When I was younger I had such an obsession with monkeys. My room was covered in them. I literally had at least 50 stuffed monkeys scattered around my room.

N-NOSE RING...For the past few years I've really wanted a nose ring but I can't bring myself to do it.

♥ O-OCEAN...The ocean makes me so happy. I could live on a tiny island surrounded with water and I'd be content.

P-PAINTING...I always think about painting but I don't feel like I'd be any good at it.

♥ Q-QUAHOG...Family Guy is the only cartoon that actually makes me laugh out loud.

R-RIDING...I used to horseback ride when I was younger and I miss it all the time.

♥ S-SEAFOOD...Om nomnomnom. I could easily live off of seafood.

T-TRAVEL...I want to travel all of Canada first and then move on to the states.

♥ U-UNIVERSE...Sometimes I sit and think about the universe. How big it is, how there are so many other planets and galaxies and how no one truly knows just how big it is and are there multiple universes? I think about it to the point where I feel overwhelmed and have to stop thinking about it.

V-VOLLEY BALL...The one sport I dreaded playing in gym at school. I could never hit the ball hard enough to even come close to going over the net.

♥ W-WISHES...I'm one of those superstitious people who makes wishes on everything..eyelashes, first stars, 11:11.

X-X-FILES...I feel like everyone uses this for X but I mean...what else is there? Not many people rock a xylophone these days. I do love the X-Files though. I never gave it the time of day until Craig wanted me to watch it with him and I loved it. We kind of stopped watching it but I just might pick it back up.

♥ Y-YELLOW...My favourite colour! A lot of people don't like yellow but I always felt like it was such a happy colour.

Z-ZIP-LINING...We've gone zip-lining a few times now and its so much fun! I definitely recommend trying it.

Well, that took a lot of brain power. This tag is definitely harder than it seems! I tag anyone who's willing to give it a go! And if you've already done this leave me a link in the comments so I can check it out :)

Snow, Haircuts and Chinese Food

So it's Wednesday. A regular posting day and I've got no content to post. I have a few drafts here but they aren't complete so I can't post them. I'm a little annoyed at myself because I've had content ready to go three times a week since September.

Only a little annoyed though

Because I'm still posting. You and I, we're just going to have to settle for a nice chat.

So if you don't like chatty posts, click off now. This one's going to be a rambler.

I've got my prune-covered offspring to my left laughing at me while I butcher Jingle Bell Rock.

Looking at this picture makes me realize how none of my bedding matches and how much that drives me crazy. I've been meaning to get a new matching sheet set for months and, honestly, I don't even want to anymore because I've grown bored with this duvet set. I kind of hate that about myself. I get bored with things way too easily. I'm lucky that doesn't happen with people.

There's a lot of snow on the ground now. It's been snowing for days -snowed yesterday the most- and it looks so beautiful outside. I've come to realize I'm much more of a winter gal. I love the sunny, hot Summer weather but there's something about the cold, crisp air I live for. It's refreshing. I just dug my boots out of the closet and walked down the driveway to dump a stinky lobster shell in the green bin. mmm my first lobster of the season.

I just finished reading In a Dark, Dark Wood this morning. It was really good. I may do a review on it. I've been trying to take more "me" time. I used to read a lot but haven't been recently since having Lux. It's been going well. Getting back into the swing of reading has done the mind some good.

The boyfriend finally cut his hair. The hair he has been growing for the past year. I was excited at the thought of a haircut. Even he was excited, which was odd because he never wants to cut his hair. He kept telling me he was going to get a mohawk. I was not feelin' it. I thought he was joking but when he came out...there it was. And I have to say - momma was really feelin' it.
It was nothing like I imagined. I thought he'd walk out of there looking like a punk straight out of the 80s but no. It's a clean cut, shorter, more "modern" mohawk and it suits him really well. Yes, I quite like it indeed.

I've got leftover chinese food basically screaming my name out there. I can hear it..
And I've got a rumble in my stomach so loud you might be able to hear it. But alas, I must feed the child first. So I'll end this now. Let me know if you like these chatty posts. I do. I like reading little snippets of people's lives. But then again, I'm extremely nosey.

Tell me something that's been going on in your life lately!

BABY OOTD | Plaid Baby

Plaid Button-up // Carter's
Black Jeggings // Joe Fresh

The lighting was so horrible today but I just had to show this outfit! So, sorry for the fuzzy images! I've always been a huge plaid lover and plaid on babies is so adorable. Its actually kind of hard to find cute plaid for baby girls so I was happy to have found two super nice shirts at Carter's. Actually we picked up a couple of outfits that day and my aunt bought it all for Lux for Christmas. I just couldn't wait until Christmas to wear them on her. I couldn't find the shirt online but its currently at Carter's right now and the pants were a hand-me-down so they aren't available anymore.

Our New Christmas Eve Tradition

Holiday traditions are my absolute favourite. One of the things I was super excited for when I found out I was having a baby was thinking about all of the new little family traditions we'd be starting.

When I was a kid, every Christmas Eve we were allowed to open one present and we were given our new pyjamas to wear. I want to do something similar with Lux. Every Christmas Eve she'll be allowed to open a present. It'll be the same thing every year. Well, not the same "things" but you know...I'll just show you!

In her Christmas Eve box she'll always have a new pair of pj's, a Christmas movie that we'll watch as a family that night and a Christmas book we'll read before bed. As she gets older we'll throw a snack in there as well to go with the movie. Popcorn or something!

This year we got her some super cute footy pyjamas from Joe Fresh, the original How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the book The Night Before Christmas.

I am so excited for Lux's first Christmas and any new traditions we might come up with over the years.

My 500th Post!

This post marks my 500th on the blog! That's a lot of freakin posts! I didn't really have anything special in mind regarding this post so I guess I'll just have to make this a chatty type. Haven't had a good chatty post in a while.

I've been feeling a little directionless when it comes to blogging lately. In terms of the content I produce. I've been doing really well with making sure I have content. I've been able to stick to a posting schedule of every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I'm just not sure if I'm totally happy with what I'm putting out.

I'm adding a poll to this post with different post ideas and I would really appreciate if you could take the time to choose what type of posts you'd like to read more of on here. Just to give me an idea of what you guys like. Obviously I'll still write up things I want to talk about but I'll also try harder to come up with content everybody will enjoy :)

Bringing Christmas To The Bathroom

I love getting everything all decked out for the holidays. I don't know about you but I seem to decorate everywhere but the bathroom. I mean I could go out and buy some cute Christmassy towels or something but I never do.
I was super excited to receive these hands soaps from Live Clean because its such a simple way to add a little Christmas to the bathroom. Also, they both smell amazing!

The two scents are Vanilla Peppermint and Holly Berry.

Can we just take a minute to thank Live Clean for making something peppermint scented!? Ugh, I love the smell of peppermint. If they made this stuff in body wash I'd be in my Christmas glory!

Everything you'd look for in a great soap! Throw in the fact that they're never tested on animals plus enriched with vitamins E and B. They'd make a perfect gift for someone on your Christmas list oooor the perfect little gift for yourself :)

*These were gifted to me from Live Clean but as always opinions are 100% my own.

Six Months Old

Omg 😭 My baby is officially half a year old!! You guys think time flies by for you- try having a baby and see how fast time goes! Her sixth month of life started out pretty slow and I thought it would be pretty quiet in terms of her learning new things but by the end of the month she sure surprised me!

We tried four new purees this month. She absolutely loves wax beans and green beans!! But she hates peas. Oh my goodness does she ever. Its the first and only food she hasn't liked so far. Bananas seemed like a no-go at first but now she loves them.

Okay so she can't actually crawl or anything but if she's lying on her stomach she can scoot herself around to get to her toys! She only goes in circles but hey! progress.

She has been teething for a while now but I think we're getting into the actual painful times. This month her sleeping schedule was thrown all out of whack and I blame those little teeth of hers. I hope one pops through soon because it breaks my heart watching her in pain and there's very little I can do to stop it.

Again...sort of. We drove all the way into the city to watch the parade of lights. Got there about an hour or more early so we could get a good spot. The parade started late and the skies opened up. I mean it down poured. A lady very kindly gave us her umbrella to use but after two floats went by we said frig this and left! They should have cancelled it in my opinion. To make matters worse, our car was parked a twenty minute walk away!! We were drenched haha and then had to drive an hour home soaking wet. It wasn't fun in the moment but its something we'll look back on and laugh at I'm sure.

Lux says mama now!! It's the most adorable thing I've ever heard and I secretly relish in the fact that she said mama before dada 😏

She fiiiiiiinally rolled over!! We have been trying to get her to roll over for a while now and she finally did it! She's only done it about six times so far but still. She can do it!

I really hope you guys enjoyed her sixth month update! I still can't believe she's been with us for six months already. Until next time!

November Blogger of the Month | Anika May

Hey everyone! Since its the end of November its time for the blogger of the month interview! This month went to Anika from the blog Anika May. Let's jump into the questions..

Sure. Hello lovely people! My name's Anika, I'm a Yorkshire-based blogger and the girl behind Anika May. I'm a countryside girl and absolutely love photography. I work part-time for two amazing charities I run with my mum, Clothing Solutions and Beaneezy. Anika May began as a fashion-only blog, but as I got to know more about the business and my interests were broadened, I write about basically anything, from cool events and OOTDs to nature photography and life tips!

I started my blog because my dream was to become a fashion journalist as a young teen, and I thought my own little corner on the internet would be a great way to start and get a few more skills. I grew up in the fashion industry so magazines were a huge influence on me and inspired me to follow fashion. I also came across bloggers like Patricia Bright and Zoella who really motivated me to just be myself online and love what I do.

If I had to pick one, I'd have to say making some new friends. I'm ridiculously shy, so being able to talk to people at events and even attend events on my own is a huge stepping stone for me. Since starting my blog, my confidence has improved so much because I've started to believe in myself, and that feeling is the most rewarding achievement I could ask for.

Any sort of lifestyle post. Whether it's a 'how-to' or just an honest post about what I've learned in life, hoping it will help others. It's great to see discussions in the comments section too. As much as I love fashion posts, the photos are a huge part of that and sometimes I can't write a deep post about an outfit!

Sincere, exciting, friendly.

I absolutely adore Levi Nguyen's blog, TLNIQUE. Not only is the design stunning, but her photography is also always on point. Another blog I think is amazing is The Sweetest Thing. Emily's style is wonderful and she's so beautiful!

It's got to be the Next Spring 2017 Press Day post. The day was amazing because I got to travel to London with Next to check out some of their new collections, and photograph everything. I enjoyed writing the post so much because I felt like a little fashion journalist, finding trends and just typing away...

Be you! Trying hard to fit the mould of other successful bloggers just won't work. Everyone will have a different path to their own definition of success. Blogging should be a hobby or career that you love, and you can't love something if you can't be you!

Thank you so much Anika for taking the time to answer these questions! Everyone make sure you head over to her blog and check it out!

Graves Island & Queensland Beach Provincial Parks

I had to combine two Provincial Parks together for this post because I just didn't have enough pictures of the both of them to make up a separate post each.

We visited these two parks in the same day. Along with the Cleveland Beach and East River Provincial Parks.

G R A V E S  I S L A N D  [ C H E S T E R . N S ]

These photos are just the worst. Probably because this was the worst Provincial Park I've been to yet. Honestly, I was so disappointed! It's quite a large park but all it really is is a campground. A depressing looking campground at that. There was nothing there but a few picnic benches. I really had to use the bathroom and luckily for me there was a campground bathroom up on a hill (first photo) so  ran up to use it. My god. I've never seen a bathroom so creepy. I was half expecting someone to jump out at me. If you ever find yourself in Nova Scotia- skip this park.

Q U E E N S L A N D  B E A C H  [ Q U E E N S L A N D.  N S ]

Annnnd more crappy photos. I didn't even get out of the car to take these because we were on our way home after a very long day and I just didn't feel like it. This is basically the beach though. A long stretch of sand. Queensland Beach is actually quite popular during the Summer though. It's always crowded. Maybe next summer we'll come back and actually enjoy it.

Thanks for reading :)
