Chocolate Ice Cream at 5am Fixes Everything..

Who decided 'breakfast foods' should be bacon and eggs anyway? Or toast or oatmeal.
Why can't it be seen as 'normal' to have spaghetti or pizza for breakfast?

Well, I'm currently eating that delicious bowl of chocolate ice cream for breakfast and you know what? It feels pretty damn good.

I've been having a rough time sleeping lately. Just uncomfortable, needing to pee every hour and what not. I'm also a day passed my due date and really not looking forward to being induced if this baby decides they're too cozy up in here and don't want to come out on their own.

If I were being fed chocolate ice cream at 5am I'd probably stay tucked away in there too. Smart baby.

But those aren't the reasons why I woke up at 4:30 and needed some comfort food.

I've touched on my anxiety on here before and how sometimes it gets a little too overwhelming for me. What you all don't know is that I've always, for as long as I can remember, had this crippling fear. For some reason I've always felt like I couldn't have babies on my own because I would die giving birth. Trust me, I know how crazy I sound.

But its always been there- since I was young. I told my family members over and over that I would be adopting any children I have. It wasn't until these past few years that I started considering having my own and well, here I am now. One day passed my due date feeling scared and happy and every-freakin'-emotion you can imagine.

It just hits me randomly sometimes. Like this morning. I woke up at 4:30, needing to pee, and as I lay back down trying to go back to sleep the thought hit me. I'm going to die soon. Every scenario in which I could die while giving birth ran through my head at that moment. I started panicking and crying then so I needed to quietly get out of bed. I didn't want to wake Craig because I needed that cry to myself. Sure I'll talk to him about it when he wakes up but for now I need to try and calm myself down.

Anxiety is such a crazy thing. How it makes you dwell on such thoughts and you actually start to believe them. It honestly makes me feel like I'm actually going crazy sometimes. When in reality I know that chances of me dying while giving birth are pretty slim. I guess I won't shake this fear until I have the baby and we're both home, safe and sound.

So when you wake up during the wee hours of the morning and you're feeling anxious or scared- grab yourself some chocolate ice cream. It'll fix all of your problems!

Just kidding. That's my comfort eating talking. But that's a whole other story....

I hope you all have a beautiful day! :)

PREGNANCY | Benefits of Lemon Water During Pregnancy

I'm sure you've seen a million and one posts praising lemon water and all of the amazing benefits that come along with drinking it. And for good reason. It does have amazing benefits and it tastes pretty darn great too!

This post is for the pregnant ladies out there (and maybe those who aren't pregnant but are curious) who wonder about certain foods they can and can't have while pregnant.

I was constantly wondering about the foods I could and couldn't eat during this pregnancy and you hear different answers from everyone. Lemon water is something I truly enjoy drinking and while its only lemons in some water I wanted to be sure it would be okay to have! After doing some research of my own, I am here to tell you that lemon water is not only okay to have during pregnancy, its actually pretty darn beneficial!

- Lemons contain lots of vitamin C that helps greatly when it comes to your immune system and helps fight nausea and vomiting. Huge bonus for morning sickness!

- Lemons are packed with substances that help lower blood pressure

- Lemons help stimulate digestion- something I can definitely agree with!- which helps combat constipation (something that a lot of women suffer with while being pregnant).

- Bringing it back to the vitamin C, with a boost in your immune system its easier to fight off colds and flus.

- Aside from being super rich in vitamin C, lemons contain an abundance of essential vitamins and minerals needed during pregnancy like; flavonoids, B-complex vitamin, vitamin A, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-6, niacin, vitamin E and riboflavin. These are all nutrients needed for the growth and development of your unborn baby.

With all of those great benefits I couldn't see why I wouldn't drink lemon water daily while being pregnant. Now for myself, I only drink one glass of lemon water a day (if I have the lemons handy). That seems to be good enough for me.

Like everything there are a few things to be cautious about:

Drinking lemon water may cause heartburn. Heartburn is so typical when pregnant though. Honestly I've had extreme heartburn pretty much my entire pregnancy and drinking one glass of lemon water doesn't really add to it. I have it constantly anyway so...

Also, due to the acid in lemons you have the risk of tooth enamel weakening which is a risk drinking lemon water while you're pregnant or not. Apparently pregnant women are more susceptible to de-calcification though so if you drink lemon water daily just be sure to drink a glass of regular water after your lemon water or gargle and rinse afterward.

Maskeraide All Eyes On Me Hydrating Eye Gel Patches

In my last Beauty Box I received the Maskeraide Hydrating Eye Gel Patches and a couple of you were interested in seeing how I got on with them. So here's my little review of this product!

First let's talk about what they claim to do:

BRIGHTEN | Supposed to brighten and help diminish the look of dark circles

HYDRATE | Gives an instant hydration boost with hyaluronic acid that provides long-lasting moisture

FIRM | Reduces the look of fine lines by firming skin texture and improving skin elasticity

This is what they look like. They were extremely messy as soon as I opened the packet. The gel stuff was everywhere.

So you just peel the protective film off from both sides of the gel patch and place them under your eyes on freshly cleaned skin for 15-30 minutes.

Annnd here's my face with the gel patches on. They look a lot bigger on your face than in the little tray they come in.

First off, they stayed on really well. They definitely did feel nice and hydrating and the smell was pleasant. Not too much scent at all actually. I decided to leave mine on for the full 30 minutes so I could get a true experience with them.

The only thing they did for my under eyes was make them feel a little cool. I didn't notice any changes in dark circles or firmness. They did, however, leave my face feeling pretty sticky and I had to wash my face right away.

I'll rate this product 3/5 stars. Mainly because this was just a one time experience. That's the thing about beauty box subscriptions. You only ever get one small sample of products like this and you truly can't rate it properly without using it a few times in my opinion. So based on my one experience I give it a 3. It was kind of fun to use and didn't irritate my skin, so that's a huge plus in my books!

April Beauty Box 5 - My Last Box

Wow..s u p e r late with this post! I actually forgot all about this beauty box until recently and I wasn't even going to bother posting about it but I thought since its my last box ever I might as well!

Maskeraide 'All Eyes On Me Hydrating Eye Gels'. These eye gels look kind of interesting. They're supposed to brighten, hydrate and firm your skin. I'll let you know how that goes.

Soapbox Sea Minerals Body Wash. I thought this was pretty cool. For every product sold they give a bar of soap to someone in need. It says you can purchase the Soapbox products at Target. The one I have doesn't really smell the greatest but I'm willing to try it out!

Chella Passionate Pink Moisturizing Lip Pencil. The paper tells me that this is a full sized item and that it retails for $18.00!! I would not pay $18.00 for something so tiny. I mean it might be worth it but I just know I don't wear anything on my lips so it really wouldn't be worth it to me.

Jelly Pong Pong Paradise Pigments. I've never heard of this brand before but this is also a full sized product and it retails for $19.95. Jeeze Louise! If anything at least I got my money's worth with this box. This is a lip and cheek cream. It smells really good and the color is pretty but I doubt I'll use it.

Global Beauty Care Green Tea Makeup Removal Wipes. I never have any luck with makeup wipes! They all seem to dry my face out super bad but seeing as these ones have green tea in them I'm hoping they might work a little better. They smell really nice.

So that's that. My last ever box from Beauty Box 5. This one was okay I suppose. I'll probably only use the body wash and the eye gels because I find them interesting. I think I'll be writing a post about my experience with the BB5 subscription so keep an eye out for that!

PREGNANCY | 39 Weeks!

Ahhh! I cannot believe I have one week left until my due date! I honestly feel like I just found out I was pregnant. The baby can come at any time now so I've been feeling a whole mess of different emotions. I'm excited, anxious, scared, happy...its all going to be such a huge change.

I had a doctors appointment yesterday and when she measured my belly all she could say was wow, that's already a big baby! She guesses the baby is already passed the 8 pound mark! I think I have a little monster growing inside of me.

I already knew from previous visits that the baby was pretty big and they don't have much room in my stomach so I thought for sure I would go into labour a little earlier than my due date. Unfortunately, she checked my cervix yesterday and told me I wasn't even close. It hasn't dropped, thinned, dilated, nothing!

Although I googled it yesterday and there are tons of women who went to the doctor one day with absolutely no sign of going into labour and then the next day they drop and have the baby a few hours later. So I guess you can never really tell. Babies will come when they're ready.

Sleeping has gotten a tiny bit better. I found out sleeping at the opposite end of the bed feels more comfortable for some reason. Who knows? So instead of waking up every hour during the night, I am now usually only waking up twice just to pee.

Hmm what else can I update you on?

My feet are HUGE!! Ugh. I'm so lucky its warmer here now because flip flops are the only comfortable thing I can wear. They are swelling so much. It looks really funny but it can be super uncomfortable. I've almost busted out the back of the only shoes that were fitting me recently so I need to buy a new pair asap once this baby is born!

I think that's just about it! Hopefully my next update will be a post introducing you guys to the baby :)  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

But What If I Don't Want A Niche?

You see it everywhere. Why You Need A Blogging Niche, Why Having A Niche Is Important For Your Blogs Growth, etc. And from what I see, yes, having a specific niche tends to attract more readers. But what if I don't want to choose a niche? Am I hurting my blog by doing so?

First, for those of you who may not know what a niche is here's a quick little Google definition:

Niche blogging is the act of creating a blog with the intent of using it to market to a particular niche market. Niche blogs may appeal to "geographic areas, a specialty industry, ethnic or age groups, or any other particular group of people."

To put it simply- a "beauty blog" focuses on beauty posts, a "fashion blog" focuses on fashion posts and so on. You have one main topic to write about.

Having a niche can be so beneficial for your blog. Mainly for growing a reliable audience. People like finding blogs that cater to their interests. If a person wants to return to a blog daily for fitness inspiration, they're most likely going to follow a fitness blog. They like knowing that whenever they feel the need for that boost of inspiration they can always pop onto that fitness blog and find a post that relates to them. For this reason, people are more likely to hit that follow button.

Some other benefits to having a niche include:

RETURN VISITORS. Going hand in hand with the audience growth, niche blogs will often have better success with return visitors to their blog. When you cover a variety of topics on your blog it can be really hard to keep loyal readers. If someone came across your blog because your last post was all about blogging tips and it really helped them, they may follow. Then say the next time they come on your blog looking for more tips they see a post all about the delicious pancakes you made for breakfast that morning. That really doesn't help them and they may feel like following your blog is a waste of their time.

MONETIZING YOUR BLOG WILL BE EASIER. If making money is a goal you want to achieve with your blog, dealing with a specific niche would be the best option for you. Ad networks or even sponsors look for blogs that target what they're selling. If a company wants to post an ad to a blog about their new mascara they will most likely go for the blog that writes about beauty every day instead of the blog that may only write one beauty post every couple of months.

CONTENT FLOWS EASIER. From what I read, dealing with one topic is much easier for coming up with content as you restrict yourself and have an easier time setting certain blogging boundaries. With a niche-less blog it can sometimes feel overwhelming trying to come up with an idea for a post. But when you have only one topic to concentrate on, the ideas may flow a lot easier.

Now after reading all of those wonderful benefits to having a specific blogging niche, a person may ask, why wouldn't you want to choose a niche? And I agree. Choosing a niche sounds like the only sane thing to do when it comes to your blog. My only answer to that is simple: I just don't want a niche.

Sure coming up with ideas can be hard at times and my blog suffers when I go a week or more without publishing any content.

Sure my follower count takes ages to go up by one person and only minutes to go down by three.

But I don't want to limit myself to what I can write about on my own blog. I didn't start this blog to gain followers, I didn't start this blog to earn an income. I started this blog because I wanted my own space to write about whatever the heck I wanted to write about!

Some days I want to share my latest beauty buys or the book I'm currently reading. Other days I feel like getting more personal and chatting all about my little bun in the oven! I like having the freedom to express whatever I'm feeling that day. And that's okay.

Not every blog needs to choose a niche. You write about what makes you happy!

Day Trip | Peggy Of The Cove Museum

There's a small village not too far from where we live called Peggy's Cove. It's one of the main tourist attractions in Nova Scotia. Craig and I have been there more times than I could ever count. While its a great spot - a cute little fishing village that leads to huge rocks surrounding a lighthouse- the drive getting to Peggy's Cove is also beautiful and has a few little places along the way that are definitely worth seeing. One of these places is the Peggy of the Cove Museum. Everytime we passed by this museum we always said 'we need to go there!". Its definitely eye catching...

So yesterday we decided to make a day of it and stop by the museum to see what it was all about. It was completely different than I expected to be honest with you. I thought this museum would be all things Peggy related, and it sort of was, but most of it was made up. You see, "Peggy of the Cove" is a legend. The only bit of truth anyone really knows is that back in the 1800s there was a ship wreck. There were people on that ship. Legend states that the only survivor was a young girl who was pulled ashore, couldn't remember her name so everyone called her Peggy and she started living with a family in the village. The owner of this house/museum is a man named Ivan who has written two books with his own Peggy tale. That's basically what this museum was about. His "made up" story. We weren't disappointed though. He was an amazing story teller and had his own fantastic artwork and photography hanging around.

This photo is amazing. He took this a while back and someone else actually pointed something out to him. In the middle of the wave it looks like there's an image of a woman. Can you see it?

The house/museum is actually his family home so a lot of the items left in the house were old things his family used to own.

We ended up staying at the museum for an hour! Even though his facts weren't all true, it was still really interesting. After that we continued on our drive.

That's the little village and lighthouse of Peggy's Cove. We didn't turn up that way because like I said, we've been there more than a few times!

This is a restaurant we pass by all the time and I always said I wanted to eat there (I love trying out new restaurants!) so we decided to stop in and try it. The food was really good and the waitress, who I think may have been the owner, was super nice too. I ordered a fish burger and fries and Craig ordered the fish and chips. The food was massive! I felt a little bad because it looked like I left so much food on my plate but really, I ate a lot!

And even though our bellies were already bursting with food, we needed to stop for an ice cream! What's a day trip without ice cream?

Craig's huge ice cream compared to mine! I just love Heavenly Hash! My favorite ice cream.

If I Could Change The World....

THERE WOULD BE NO GOVERNMENTS. I really hate how the government decides everything regarding our countries. How can one, or even a handful of people, know what's best for an entire country of people? I understand without the government the world may turn to chaos....but what if it didn't? What if people -communities- could live civilly among each other?  Wouldn't it be nice to be able to buy land and not have to pay taxes on it for the rest of your life? Wouldn't it be nice to work hard for your pay and actually be able to take home the amount you rightfully earned instead of paying a bunch out to the government?

EVERYONE WOULD EARN THE SAME PAY. Wages would all be the same. Sure there are jobs that are harder than others and people may think they should be paid more for them and they're probably right. But think about when it comes to celebrities. Does anyone else question why in the world celebrities are paid millions of dollars for getting dolled up everyday to act in a movie? Honestly, they get paid so much to basically have people wait on them, doing their makeup, hair, etc. while there are soldiers and fire fighters actually risking their lives every single day who will never see even a fraction of the money celebrities get for one gig. There would be a lot less greed in the world if everyone were equal.

THERE WOULD BE NO HUNGER. In my perfect world, no one would starve. I think its terrible that there are people who starve to death in this world while there are some who eat so much they suffer from obesity. It would be so cool if everyone were allotted the same amount of food for each day. No under eating, no over eating. Just the right amount of nutrition we needed. And going back to the money thing, how can it be that there are billionaires in this world while others are so poor they can't afford to eat?

MAYBE MONEY WOULDN'T EXIST AT ALL. They do say its the root of all evil. My boyfriend often says he would rather live in a world where everyone worked for what they wanted. Where people would barter with one another and trade their goods. I have to say I agree with him. Its so stressful and sad how we have to rely on money for just about everything. You want shelter from the cold? You need to pay rent or a mortgage. You want to eat? You have to pay ridiculous food prices. Basic necessities should be free in my opinion.

This actually turned out a little more ranty than I imagined it would! I just wish we could live in a world that wasn't so greedy. That's what it all comes down to. Greed.

Update | 37 Weeks and Blog

Hey guys! Its been a few days since I last posted anything and to be quite honest I had to push myself to even write this post. I've been slacking in the blogging world with my own posts as well as keeping up with other blogs. My only excuse for this is loss of motivation and feeling exhausted most days now. I am currently 37 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I cannot believe how fast time is going by! Most days I feel as though I might actually go earlier than my expected due date but I really can't be sure.

Things are going pretty good. Aside from having the worst sleeps of my life! Seriously, its like torture coming on the end. My stomach is so big it takes me like 5 minutes just to roll over on the bed haha! Throw in waking up to pee almost every hour and the odd leg cramp that literally wakes you up out of your sleep it hurts so bad. Restless nights equal one cranky, exhausted pregnant lady during the day!

Its okay though. Less than 3 weeks and it will all be worth it when I finally get to see my baby.

I had a doctors appointment Friday (I am now seeing the doctor once a week). Baby's heartbeat is still nice and strong. My belly is measuring just right. Although she did feel around my belly and said that the baby has no room in there! I'm hoping that means they'll be arriving a little sooner than the 28th. Either that or I have one big baby hanging out in my belly! I've mentioned to her that I've been feeling some cramping as well these past few days so at my next appointment she's going to check my cervix to see if maybe I've dilated any.

As for my blog. I'm trying to keep up with it and I really want to but as I've mentioned, I just feel too exhausted. I have lots of ideas for posts but I can't seem to muster up the energy to actually sit and write them out or take any blog photos. I'm going to try really hard to hunker down one day this week and write out lots that I can just schedule to go live. That way I won't have to worry too much about having content ready and in case I do go into labour earlier than expected at least I'll have some back up!

So yeah, that's basically it. Thank you everyone who sticks around when my blog goes a little stale sometimes :) OH! And Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms and soon to be moms out there! :)

Would You Rather Beauty Tag

1. Would you rather go out with messy hair and nice makeup or nice hair and no makeup?
Nice hair and no makeup! I cannot stand my hair being messy.

2. Would you rather shave your eyebrows or have your eyelashes fall out?
Shave my eyebrows for sure. At least I could draw those on.

3. Would you rather be forced to only shop at MAC or Sephora for the rest of your life?
Sephora. Then at least I would be able to choose from a whole bunch of different brands and products.

4. Would you rather wear the lipgloss/lipliner look or an 80s perm?
Honestly? I think I'd try out the 80s perm! Lipliner looks weird on me.

5. Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
Ahh both so horrible! I'm going to go with overdone blush.

6. Would you rather wear MC Hammer pants or biker shorts in public?
Biker shorts. Tons of people wear them in public.

7. Would you rather have a bad orangey spray tan or weird tan lines that can't be covered?
Weird tan lines that can't be covered please. No oompa loompa look here!

8. Would you rather have a bad hair cut or bad hair color?
Hmm how bad are we talking here? I'll choose bad hair color!

9. Would you rather have Youtube or Twitter taken away forever?
Twitter. I still don't fully understand how to use it haha

10. Would you rather give up using makeup brushes or mascara?
Well, I can't even wear mascara because it hurts my eyes BUT if I could choose to never use brushes again and be able to use mascara instead, that would be awesome!

Would you rather leave the house with an obvious foundation line or overdone blush?
