"Uncommon" Baby Gift Guide!

Gift guides are great aren't they? Personally I love checking out gift guides. I always seem to come across amazing things I wouldn't have otherwise even thought about!

Ever since becoming pregnant myself-and then having Lux- baby accessories are now one of my main shopping priorities..(okay, maybe it's my only shopping priority but I can't help it! Teeny tiny baby products are so much fun to shop for!)

Maybe you're like me and love finding cute, unique things for your baby or perhaps you know someone who's having a baby soon and you want to find the perfect baby shower gift? If so, you're in luck.

With the help of Uncommongoods.com I've come up with an amazing guide showcasing some "uncommon" baby gift ideas that any mom would be over the moon to receive (myself included!)
Don't sweat it if you aren't in the market for baby items though. Uncommongoods has a plethora of products I know you'll love. Maybe your best friend is getting married and you want to buy her a thoughtful personalized wedding gift or how about a super unique anniversary gift that you'll treasure forever? If you have a hard-to-buy-for man in your life you can check out these gift ideas for men!

Here are six baby products I think will make fantastic gift ideas! (links are in the titles)

These are too cute! If you're someone who loves having things organized these would be perfect. I wish I had of seen these when I first had Lux. It's quite annoying having to sift your way through clothes every few months looking for the proper size.

Now I did have this exact same mitt (two actually) for Lux and they are wonderful! Not only do the mitts help with teething but babies love the crinkle noise they make.

I mean come on. Who wouldn't love these!

I love this! These sectional plates are awesome for when your baby starts eating solid foods and if your kid is anything like mine they love tipping their plates upside down. Hello suction plate!

Why oh why didn't I see these when Lux was smaller?
It would have made eating out and visiting SO much easier.

Growth charts aren't necessary but I think they're so adorable! I've got my eye on this one and am highly considering ordering one for Lux!

Pretty awesome huh? There are tons more on the site to choose from but first I wanted to touch on a few points about Uncommongoods.com so you know a little more about the company before browsing!

The website features products created by individual artists offering a huge selection of unique and creative products- it's an online marketplace! They're also doing their part to be as environmentally friendly as possible and have created a program called Better to Give where you get to choose a partner for them to donate $1 from every order! Definitely a company I can get behind.

Let me know what gift idea you liked the best!

Dollar Lake Provincial Park | Wyses Corner, N.S

Dollar Lake is a Provincial Park I've driven past more times than I can count and never really gave it any thought. I knew I'd visit one day but I was in no rush, if you know what I mean.

Yesterday my brother suggested we head there for a beach day and let me tell you...Dollar Lake is now at the top of my list! Hands down the nicest place I've gone swimming in a long time. The lake is stunning. A beautiful sandy beach surrounded in trees. The lake floor is nothing but sand as far as you can walk out. Absolutely amazing.

I know my Provincial Park posts usually show the park with a ton of photos of it but I felt a little awkward hauling the camera out with so many people on the beach. We will definitely be heading back this summer and I promise I'll get better photos of it!

For now, here are the few I did manage to get.

This Or That Summer Tag

It's been a while since I posted a good old fashioned tag on the blog! Tags are enjoyable every now and then...right? Here's a good one to start the Summer off with!

That's actually a tough decision. I love the ocean and will always be up for a beach day but more often than not the ocean water is freezing around here which makes it a little difficult to swim. So if I were picking solely for swimming purposes I guess I'd have to go with pool.

As much as I love being out in the wilderness, when it comes to Summer I just can't get over my fear of ticks. So with that in mind I'll choose beach vacation.

For Summer- watermelon all the way! It's one of the most refreshing things to eat on a hot day.

One piece.
My body is no where near ready to rock a bikini this Summer!

Lemonade hands down. I was never much of an iced tea fan.

Grilled. I almost always burn my hotdogs when I try to roast them over a fire.

I don't wear either but I know I should be. I'll be looking for a good Summer hat soon.

Just how hot of a day are we talkin here? I love having the window down but on really hot days it feels like hot air is just blowing in the window at me so AC is definitely needed.

Sunscreen. I'm passed the days of me trying to get a tan. I'll stay pasty all year round thank you.

Since I've never been to a concert I can't very well choose which one I like best but even still I feel like a baseball game would be more fun to attend than a concert. Especially during the hot summer.

My heart wants to choose ice cream but the pain in my gut says popsicle...

There's nothing quite as magical as seeing a field full of fireflies.

Water balloons! You have less chances of getting soaked when playing with water balloons!

Well I quite enjoyed that. Writing up a tag every now and then is kind of fun! You can answer these questions yourself down in the comments or if you happen to do this tag on your blog please leave the link in the comments so I can check it out! :)

Rainbow Haven Beach Provincial Park | Cow Bay, N.S

Rainbow Haven Beach is a place I've been wanting to see for quite some time. Whenever I would hear someone talk about it, it's made to sound like the most beautiful beach in all of Nova Scotia. I mean, with a name like Rainbow Haven, it's got to be pretty special right?

Meh. Not so much.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice beach, but definitely not what I was expecting seeing as each time we venture near this beach the cars are lined up the road. I don't know what I was expecting really... a beach is a beach. I guess in my mind I was thinking it would leave me breathless going by other's reviews.

Regardless of my less than spectacular first impression, we still had a great time. My mom even joined us on this adventure.

Lawrencetown Beach Provincial Park | Lawrencetown, N.S

Gorgeous. The only word I can think to describe this Provincial Park. There are two sections to this beach. The actual BEACH beach and then this section. Where the current is too strong and you can't swim. There were a lot of people out in the water though with those glider things and boards (can't think of the name right now and in too much of a hurry to google anything!)

This was Lux's first time touching sand. She liked it at first but soon decided she hated the stuff and didn't want it anywhere near her hands or feet. She had a blast though. And so did we.

Ross Farm | New Ross, N.S

Scene: A beautiful, sunny Saturday. We're on a mini road trip with our sights set on Ross Farm. We're about 10 minutes from our destination and boom. Downpour. The rain was not letting up and you very well can't have fun at a farm when it's pouring out. We decided to drive around and wait out the rain (which took a good hour and a half) but it finally stopped. With one hour left until closing time we made our way back to the farm and had a great time. Lux realized she's not a fan of sheep and she got to plant her very own pumpkin which we get to go harvest come the fall. It was a good day.
